How to Reach Tar Village
To reach Tar Village, you first need to get to Nurla, the nearest village connected by road.
If you are coming from Leh, it takes around 1.5 to 2 hours by taxi. There is also public transport available from the Leh Bus Stand, usually leaving at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm—though timings can vary by season, so it’s best to confirm in advance.
Once you reach Nurla, there are two ways to get to Tar:
Option 1: Trekking Route (1–2 hours)
You can trek from Nurla village by crossing the Indus River and walking across the wooden bridge located near Faryok Resort. After crossing the bridge, take a right turn and follow the trail uphill. This scenic walk takes about 1 to 2 hours and offers a peaceful introduction to the landscape of Tar.
Option 2: Drive + Short Hike (15–20 mins walk)
If you’re traveling by car and prefer a shorter walk, continue on the highway past Faryok Resort for about 500–600 meters until you see a steel bridge on your left. Take this motorable road, which leads you halfway up the trail. From the end of the road, it’s just a 15 to 20-minute walk to reach Tar village.
